Upstream Emission Reductions

We develop projects that reduce the upstream emissions associated with oil and gas production. Such projects can involve energy efficiency, renewable energy, or the avoidance of gas flaring.

Delivering UERs to EU Compliance Markets

The EU Fuel Quality Directive (FQD) has generated demand for UERs; emissions reductions generated prior to fuel refining or processing. Through on the ground climate action in any country, fuel suppliers in Europe can reduce the GHG intensity of transport fuel products in compliance with annual obligations. UERs act as an interim step on the path to full transport sustainability.

Our team has delivered credits certified through both CDM and ISO pathways whilst tailoring deliveries to the individual requirements of EU member states.

Impacts & benefits

ISO 14064-2 Upstream Emissions Reduction Project

In response to the FQD, Agasco successfully implemented an ISO 14064-2 upstream emissions reduction project. The project involved the installation of an associated gas recovery and utilization facility to reduce emissions from gas flaring. Flaring gas wastes valuable energy resources and causes significant CO2, Methane, and black carbon emissions. However, prevention methods face substantial economic, technical, and regulatory barriers. Consequently, carbon finance is necessary to create the favourable conditions required for environmental action.
